As you may already know, 'special ETC toll discount' has started from this March. If you have an ETC (Electronic Toll Collection System) on your car, you can receive a benefit to get discount when using express ways.  But this is only for weekends and holidays, also only for ordinary-sized vehicles and kei (mini-sized) vehicles. 

In addition to above, further ETC toll discount for Tokyo Aqua Line has been announced just recently and there is no limit for the time or the vehicle size. This pilot program of local government of Chiba and East Nippon Expressway Company will start from August 1^st 2009 and end on March 31^st 2010.

Actually this experiment is not for the first time, and the last time was back in 2007. This time the fare after discount is about half of the discount fare from the last time, and less than 1/3 of the regular fare!! Boso peninsula of Chiba is a perfect place to visit in summer. Please refer below for the detail of the discount fare.
